This level of cronyism is one of the main reasons why we do not have a sustainable film industry in Scotland. We have a fragmented community at best.
This year #EIFF was accepting ONLY Scottish submissions. 24 new feature films programmed; 4 are Scottish! TWO funded by Screen Scotland, ONE produced by Irving Welsh (cos it ain’t Edinburgh if Trainspotting doesn’t get a shoutout) the fourth is a fucking theatre production!
Finally received the totally expected rejection email from EIFF last night. Bizarrely it read more like a 5 star review from @KermodeMovie than a rejection letter. #Confused Better late than never I suppose. #FilmInScotland #IndieFilm #Snubbed
A throwback to 2018. @MoonglassMusic composer Stephen Wright & I representing our award winning film #Sundown at the Oscar qualifying @HollyShorts Film Festival at the @ChineseTheatres in LA. To this day our work has never been recognised by an accredited festival in Scotland.
What about the rest of the Scottish filmmakers that have not had any communication regarding their submissions? To announce a film before informing those who submitted their films in good faith is bad form.
