Doesn't seem like there's much on Swift's roadmap to help app developers, who really need faster compiles and better debugging. I imagine a lot of this is driven by system software and server side software. swift.org/blog/focus-are…
Have you guys been on an MMO server when they pull the plug and end things? I have. It feels like this. Not saying that’s what’s happening any time soon, but it’s a very similar vibe tonight, is all I’m sayin.
Enough of the people I follow here have shown up on Mastodon that if Twitter blows up, I won't feel like I've lost the community. I'm @stevex@mastodon.social there.
So what happens when Twitter starts getting flooded with reports that any random handle is an impersonator? I'm guessing there's no policy or process in place, and Elon just tweeted this out of the blue.
Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended
Sooooo many companies are gonna be spawned from all these tech layoffs
I think Elon has good intentions for Twitter. The challenge this time isn't physics, or bureaucracy, but people. He might totally fail, and it sucks that it's our playground he's experimenting with, but I am curious to see where this goes. There is potential upside.
The blue checkmark used to mean something. It was never really clear what, but you could be pretty sure it wasn't a bad actor. I hope there's still some concept of verified in the new Twitter.
Apple One with the new price increase is $514/year in Canada including tax. That's a lot. I get a lot of value out of it - I use almost every service - but still.
Seriously though: Facebook is a wasteland, Twitter in turmoil, Instagram has collapsed trying to be TikTok, and TikTok isn't a social network. If you wanted to start a social network, this would be the best time in 10 years to try that.
Two good things about stage manager: I can place Mail in landscape where I can reach the trash button with my thumb, and I can play a portrait-only game with the device in landscape.
What does work for me is tabbed windows, and Cmd-# (1,2,3 etc) to quickly switch between the first few tabs. I use that in Terminal, & Safari, and Messages, Reminders & Mail which make similar use of that shortcut.
Stage Manager is not for me. There are bugs, but they'll fix those. The whole premise doesn't work for me though, because I don't work with "sets of apps", I mix & match constantly.
App Review asking for any hardware required to review your app. Is that new? Seems like the logistics around this would be challenging.
