My mathematical capability may not be that great, but even I can say quite confidently that 2% of the UK population does not equate to 1 in 50.🤔
My year 11 class tell me all their teachers continue teaching when they’re talking. My year 8 class it’s most of them saying the same. This is why maths is so exhausting to teach. I’m constantly battling with pupils expecting to be able to carry on talking over me.

I’ve never explicitly taught this extra “simplifying” step for finding LCM before. It’s a small change but I like it - easier for students to remember not to repeat those factors, and noticing that this is the HCF makes problems like the second activity much easier to solve.
