Keys to effective masking: fit/seal and 99%+ filtering respirators w/ headbands. Non-latex exercise loops can cover beards for a proper seal. N95s can be reused til damaged, soiled, or not sealing. Great N95s on Amazon: Dräger 1950 Small 3M Aura 9210/9205/1870 3M VFlex 9105/9105s

We hear lots about Covid transmission at unmasked gatherings, but not enough about events where folks were successfully protected. I coordinated a meetup during PAX West '23 which was deliberately held outdoors with free 3M VFlex N95s. Covid was present, but didn't spread. 1/4
Your safer bet if you have not been fit tested is: a 3M Aura N95 respirator with red, blue or white straps or Drager 1950. The straps must go around your head. You wouldn’t want brakes that “sorta work”don’t wear a mask that “sorta” seals. 💨

I really don't love that this keeps needing to be an exciting announcement, but the Draeger 1950 Small is back in stock on US Amazon: amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09WB6… The turnaround to getting back in stock was faster this time, ~5 weeks instead of 7. Hopefully, a greater supply, as well.
@LazarusLong13 @texanalysis @dreamy_run @vonnie700 So here is the experience I had at my appointment with my ophthalmologist yesterday, wearing a Draeger N95. First stop was a visual acuity test. The technician was wearing a well-fitting KN95 trifold (no visible gaps).
I want to offer a lifeboat to disabled and queer people worried about having a safe place to go if Twitter has outages soon. I know Mastodon has issues and isn't a perfect replacement, nothing is, but I can assure active moderation and welcoming folks at kind.social.
Welp... That was brief. 10 days for the Small to sell out & 11 for the M/L to hit 1 box left. Maybe now Draeger will take it seriously when they're told that they need to be stocking way more of these. ~50 days to manufacture/ship/restock. 10-11 days to sell out. Need 5-6x more.
