My job is essentially ingesting a bunch of context about a problem and then just letting it bounce around in my head combining with existing knowledge until the right bits stick together and a proposed solution falls out. Then I write that down in a doc.

ChatGPT is surely an Internet-scale innovation, though. Or smartphone. Two technologies with huge negative consequences we couldn’t really comprehend in the earliest days.
Many software engineering teams don't have time to do it right. But surprisingly, they have time to do it twice.
As a senior level engineer, when I review technical documents, I try extra hard to not leave statements in comments. Instead, my thoughts are always stated as a question. From my point of view it feels less like a judgement and more like starting a conversation.
