This was a fabulous event last year for an amazing charity. I rode it (and donated) every week. Can’t wait for Sunday - a quick 50k should blow away the cobwebs 🥰 I’m signed up are you?
Looking for new ways to clock your miles this weekend? Then why not sign up to this week’s Zwift ride led by Rob Wainwright. 10am. Sunday 7th January. Lets pedal for Doddie Aid 💙💛 Register here: bit.ly/48ryZfV #DoddieAid
Thank you for this Rob. I could not agree more. To make matters worse they often give opinions about medical matters when not clinically trained
When dreadful crimes are in the news, some criminologists show an unsavoury enthusiasm to go on TV / tell the newspapers all about it - despite knowing nothing more than they have picked up from other mass media. This has a meretricious look. Think hard before doing this.
Finally …. This is such good news

NEW guidance effective from today on the Secretary of State's criteria for a move to open conditions for people on indeterminate sentences, plus new guidance for @Parole_Board to apply from 1 Aug.
This is such an important report that highlights the issues young people face when they transition between child/welfare focused CJ services to an adult/punitive system.
*NEW @the_AYJ REPORT* highlighting the experiences of “some of the most vulnerable" young people as they transition from youth to adult justice. Read the evidence review, produced as part of @T2AAlliance project generously funded by @barrowcadbury here: bit.ly/41JGueu
I can confirm that this is an excellent lit review and I would highly recommend my psych colleagues and prison lawyers request a copy
I’ve completed an evidence review of the impact of open prisons for an organisation, but I’m making the lit review section freely available to psychologists completing parole assessments for indefinitely sentenced prisoners. DM me if you would like a copy.
Two of the most talented and inspirational forensic psychologists I know - they are also radio gold. It is a match made in heaven. Can’t wait to tune in 😃

NEW High Court decision out in Bailey v SSJ on evidence to @Parole_Board on whether recommendations can be made in reports and in oral evidence The court found the change to the Rules only applied to written evidence not oral evidence & the rule change was unlawful
I was honoured to be asked to review this forthcoming book, and have therefore had a sneak peak 😃. It is an outstanding text that will be of huge benefit to a wide range of criminal justice practitioners and to prisoners preparing for release.

This is an outstanding piece of research by Evan and his colleagues. The study includes data from a range of countries including the UK. It has important implications for how we respond to children who commit sexual offences. It is open access so that everyone can benefit.
