however well intentioned, the phrase “i love your culture” always makes me cringe, esp as a response to asians talking about racism. it assumes so much. which culture? what do you mean by “love”? and what does that “love” even do?
there are more non-white ppl, women, non-straight, non-cis, self-proclaimed “progressives”/“socialists” in elected office than ever before yet we are no more closer to having m4a, living wages, an eradication of endless wars, etc., than we were a two decades ago. i wonder why.
