We lost a legend, but the sky has gained a new star. Rest in peace.
Chekov and Sulu start a game where they say “aye” if the order is an even number of words, and “aye, sir” for an odd number. Uhura can’t get the humidity right in her quarters for an Andorian Orchid, but Scotty designs a self-contained chamber.
Kirk and Spock try to plan a picnic, but the shuttles are all grounded for warp upgrades. They bring a basket to the Galileo in the shuttle bay. Scotty challenges Bones to a blind tasting, but a cold forces him to reschedule. Chekov distills his first vodka.
Scotty uses scotch as a solvent while repairing an EPS junction. Fumes find their way into the food dispenser, and Spock experiences his first hangover. Kirk and Bones gently poke fun, but Spock threatens a mind meld to share his headache. Uhura dims the science station scope.
Retweeting this to remember an icon… thanks Betty for 99 years of wonder.
A pair of omnipotent beings, played by Charles Nelson Reilly and Betty White, observe humanity from the Enterprise. One thinks they are tedious, the other full of potential. After some pranks in the mess hall, they report to their Continuum a verdict of “mostly harmless” for now.
Q drops by to get Garak's opinion on Oxford vs Nehru collars paired with a Zelvian yarn jacket. Garak couldn't care less what Q wears but picks an outfit just to get him to leave. Sisko makes redeye gravy.
Chekov wants to learn botany, and starts an entire bay for botany in a little-used science lab. He discovers to his dismay he suffers from hay fever, so he gripes each time he has to report there. Uhura translates an alien book of cocktail recipes for Scotty as a birthday gift.
It’s phaser qualification day, and Chekov wants to make it fun with “phaser tag” in the arboretum. Kirk and Spock lead the respective teams, but can’t seem to shoot each other. Sulu and Uhura are both over it and relax by a pond, only to ambushed by Scotty and some red shirts.
Kirk returns from Starbase K7 with supposedly fat free food cubes, but his wraparound tunic is fitting a little tight. Spock tests them; the claims were “quite exaggerated”. Scotty helps Sulu get out of a shuttle piloting citation, but the fib at the hearing gets out of hand.
Uhura helps Rand choose a blend of Orchid to grow for Nurse Chapel as a gift. An Andorian strain can also cultivate antibiotic spores, but it smells like Bourbon… a little too on the nose for her day job. Spock offers to help remove the smell, but again, too much metaphor there.
spock would LOVE baking . he and jim's condo smelling like vanilla for months, bones and the rest of the gang always receiving a box of something that spock baked every time they visit them, spock with flour on his nose, jim's flour handprint on his ass,
Scotty’s new hyperspanner is not ‘broken in’, so he uses an old trick that involves dropping it two decks down the jefferies tube. Spock happens to be crawling by at just the wrong moment and suffers a mild concussion. He brushes it off, but slurs “Fascinating” in front of Bones.
Uhura decides to take some time off for an archeological expedition. Scotty surprises her with a visit, and they work together on a geologic scanner that can read buried glyphs. Chekov fills in on Comms, and discovers that “wessels” means something very different in Tellarite.
I do prefer this uniform with its coat open! Giving me “custom Picard vest” vibes!
we need to talk about roughed-up, unzipped, rebellion consultant kira nerys in a starfleet uniform #ds9
CAPTCHA is satisfied that I'm not a robot, but I'm not so sure.
McCoy plans a bourbon tasting, but finds the Universal Translator labels a lot of alien beverages with that name. A churlish Chekov mixes the Vulcan entry with the Andorian, but the result starts steaming. Spock drinks the mixture to avert an explosion. Sulu takes up whittling.
As I re-watch #StarTrek as an adult, I realize that like 90% of what I learned about life as a kid I got from watching Data talk to the crew about what it means to be human. And, I'm just forever grateful that this show exists. 🙏💙🖖
