What’s missing from a lot of the discourse I’m seeing is that Jonathan is Native American. He’s Comanche & Apache. His husband is Latino (unsure if he is also Amerindian). This is not just a homophobic attack but a racist one as well, against an indigenous man.
Jonathan Joss was murdered in a hate crime. That’s what the headlines won’t say. He was murdered for being gay, during pride month no less. Indigenous people have one of the highest risks of being murdered in the United States. All he was doing was checking his mail.
