Not paid any dividends to shareholders? Perhaps you'd care to explain this line item, page 137, your annual accounts "Dividends £62,337,000", in 2023, £52.6m in 2022? Really!
@Pink18787 We have not paid dividends to shareholders for the last seven years. We’re committed to improving our performance as we know a lot of our customers are disappointed with us. Part 1/2. -Megan
Oh and as it transpires even thought they made a £74m loss @sewateruk still managed to pay a £9m dividend to shareholders. Yes, you can't make this stuff up. And the regulator @ofwat does what exactly? thetimes.co.uk/article/south-…
So @thameswater still needs another £2.5bn - £3bn in cash by 2025 - 2030 simply to avoid bankruptcy. Bill payers nor taxpayers should pay a single penny of that. If someone's taking a bath here it should be the bond holders. You hearing this @Ofwat? ft.com/content/f63783…
"Thames Water must not receive a penny of public money in a bailout as it faces rising costs on £14bn of debt, the water campaigner Feargal Sharkey has said." Indeed I did.
Taxpayer cash must not be used to bail out Thames Water, says Feargal Sharkey theguardian.com/business/2023/…
Caroline Lucas, "Water companies had no debt when privatised. They have since borrowed £52 billion and paid £72 billion in dividends. Meanwhile we have a sewage scandal. Privatisation of water was a serious mistake and it needs to be permanently rectified."
The CEO of South West Water received a salary of £456,000 last year and bonuses, incentives & benefits of over £1ml. This is what South West Water pumped into the Cornwall coastline on the 1st November last year. Nationalise water now.
So less than a week after saying "SORRY" @stwater pay shareholders a stonking £260m dividend which doesn't include the £182.9m paid to service the £10.290bn in liabilities the company has nor the £305,200 salary to the chair for attending 22 meetings. 😡 theguardian.com/business/2023/…
Would that be the same @AnglianWater who for the last 2 years have spent 365,141 hours on 38,779 occasions dumping sewage into local rivers and beaches and who are over abstracting local chalk streams to the tune of about 189m litres of water per day, that @AnglianWater?
Water is essential for people, nature & the economy - good to speak to constituents, representatives from @AnglianWater, @stwater and minister @pow_rebecca about this vital resource, our precious local chalk streams and the 5 #GetRiverPositive pledges💧
"Ending sewage dumping will mean higher water bills". Here's the curious thing @JonahFisherBBC @Ofwat claim WCs have already had all of the funding they needed to meet their legal obligations with regard to sewage. What happened the money? bbc.co.uk/news/science-e…
The BBC has decided not to broadcast an episode of David Attenborough’s flagship new series on British wildlife because of fears its themes of the destruction of nature would risk a backlash from Tory politicians and the rightwing press theguardian.com/media/2023/mar…
"I'm heartbroken", @thameswater's CEO tells @thetimes but I'm still going to take my £3.24 million salary and bonus from last year she tells @seanfarrington at @BBCr4today while refusing to say that she would not take her bonus this year. Can't be that heartbroken then.
Okay, I want Jonathan Gullis sacked for this, I want people yelling at him about it every day for the rest of his life, what a disgusting, sickening, monstrous thing to say. 200 missing kids, and he sits there on his lazy arse shouting that it's their own fault. Get. Him. OUT.
"This has become a distraction and I would like to move on and talk about growth."
“I know you think you’re being funny, but honestly Dave, it’s just hurtful.”
A No10 "Spokesperson said since the industry was privatised in 1989, the equivalent of £5bn had been invested to upgrade water infrastructure." Let me remind you during the same period WCs have paid out over £72bn to shareholders. Just hold that thought bbc.co.uk/news/uk-626335…
This giant slide in Michigan had to shut down after being open just a few hours after people were reportedly getting injured 😳
The continual dumping of sewage into our rivers & seas is a national scandal – I'm contacting @SouthernWater *again* to demand they explain their actions. But the bottom line is our privatised water system has utterly failed – water networks MUST be brought back into public hands
The CEO of Southern Water suggested youmake up your mind about swimming in the sea. Surrounded by faeces. Meanwhile they will fine you for using a hosepipe. #EnoughlsEnough
