There’s nothing I love more than an unreliable narrator! One of my new favorite authors @MeganDavidhizar has done it again with her sophomore novel GASLIT. Amazing YA thriller!
This book has perhaps my favorite MC of all time but has been very challenging to write for other reasons. An artist walks into the classroom of an ethics professor and nothing in their lives will ever be black and white again.
After rewriting the midpoint scene NINE times I have finally made it beyond (thanks to amazing CPs, IYKYK). Now, let the chaos begin.
One of the things about doing a romance with the same couple in book two is you have to ruin the romance to put it back together. Not me, crying for the last 19,000 words.
Annnnd finished. Have I been awake all night (again)? Yes. Do I think it's a disaster? Yes. Did this go a lot darker than I expected? Absolutely. Am I still excited about it? Also yes.
Stuck at 60k, this one is very dark and I'm struggling to find the way out of the darkness :/
The circus is too good not to revisit, right? 🤣😂New circus book coming right up. Jk I haven't started just letting the characters marinate for a bit.
Read through the book today to see where I could cut. Added 6k words. Checks out. Time to let this sucker marinate before I make it any longer than it already is.
Finished my Alice in Wonderland retelling at the circus book today!!! It's hefty, 121k, so I need to edit quite a bit BUT the only thing you can't edit is a blank page and I now have plenty of not blank pages so woo!

Magical circus book is well under way but requires WAY more research than I expected. Because you know, it's very important to have an accurate circus big top and trailers in a novel where peole turn into snow leopards and see emotions as tarot cards in their mind 😂#writerlife
