imo, the AMPTP is only finally offering script fees for staff writers because they’re planning on a future where there are no staff writers
They can increase our residuals, give us raises, offer staff writers a script fee, let us produce our own episodes - all of that DOESN'T MATTER if there is no writers room. That's why they've set up min staffing as a straw man argument abt "artistic freedom" for the showrunner

The AMPTP claims they're worried about mandating minimum sizes for writers rooms, yet never a peep from them about all the blatant, MASSIVE featherbedding and no-show EPs at the top of most tv shows' credits.
Anyone who’s worked on a show knows Seinfeld’s right. Certain EPs who get a nice chuck of the budget only to contribute nothing, maybe show up to set once a month for an hour where they’re on their phone the whole time, yell at their assistant about lunch, then leave in a Tesla.

Minimum staff size. I keep getting asked about it. I myself didn’t entirely understand until the Showrunner Meeting. Even then, it took three people asking the same question until the pieces locked together for many of us. It is literally for the survival of our union. Why?
