#CoachingPoints 4. Create Contact - What should the first thing be when I go into this 50/50? Create contact. How should and can I protect the ball? Use the arms back and butt to secure the ball. Legs are used for defender to not stick their leg through.
#CoachingPoints 1. Ball played through - Directionally speaking, what balls should be played in behind? Diagonal so the player can go towards goal.
#CoachingPoints 1. Be deceptive with your movement - How can we be deceptive? - Use your arms, legs, head, shoulders, and hips in order to go against their momentum
#CoachingPoints 3. Cutting off the back defender - What’s one way to truly eliminate this first defender? Cut him off. How can I do that? Take a touch inside and dribble diagonally.
#CoachingPoints 5. Ball on the ground - What is the second thing needed in this 1v1? Get the ball on the ground as quickly as possible. You have better control on the ground rather than in the air.
#CoachingPoints 2. Attacking the momentum of the defender - What should you look for in a defender? What parts of their body? - Direction they are facing or front foot. Attack the front foot and their momentum.
#CoachingPoints 3.Attack the front foot. -Use the defenders moments against them. Let’s say I attack the back foot, is it easier for the defender to defend? Why?It’s easier to defend because his back foot can propel him in your direction.
#CoachingPoints 4. Cutting across defender - Once you take your touch, where should you go? - First off, towards goal. Why else am I taking my first touch towards goal? - Cut across the defender so that player is in control and in front.
