@mrbartonmaths' book "How I wish I'd taught maths" is, in my view, the most important book written on math teaching in the last 20 years, and it's now available in the US: bit.ly/2FFHVng. If you teach math at any level, you need this book.
1. Open up the task so that there are multiple methods, pathways, and representations. With this method we turn away from a right/wrong approach & welcome new perspectives making learning maths a fun adventure! #KernMath #TeachKern
The district I work for just purchased Reflex Math! The program assesses Ss to see their individual level, it sends recommendations for the T, but the T can have Ss working on specific maths, and advancing them as they improve. The kids love the challenges! #TeachKern #KernMath

@KernCMC math facts many times become memorized instead of understood. Creating card games or domino games can enhance students understanding of math facts, # sense and, mathematical concepts that are not developed during memorization. #KernMath #TeachKern
@KernCMC number sense refers to the flexibility to work and understand #'s. If Ss have an understanding of # sense they can translate basic mathematical knowledge to more complex algorithms. Giving Ss the time to explore with #'s will develop their # sense #KernMath #TeachKern
