負の連鎖を断つということで #perl7 調べた。 2023年5月の記事 blogs.perl.org/users/book/202… に「We tried to have a Perl 7, but that didn't work out.」 とある。過去形で語られるばかり。 その一年前の blogs.perl.org/users/psc/2022… ではあんまり 7 にしたくなさそう。

sorry if i wasn't clear: #perl7 is a new version of perl5 with new defaults (not enough changes) which would be fine if it had nothing else to compete with. #rakulang is just way behond.

Even if #perl is by far the best interpreted langage of its generation and still evolve amazingly nowadays (github.com/Ovid/Cor will be awesome), #rakulang push scripting in another dimension

Your #perl6 endless wait should have ended 6 years ago and you should know #rakulang. As for #perl7, don't really know if it is 5.32 with most features enabled. In the meantime, 5.34 and 5.32 work well in production. Your original point was...

I agree! A clear vision to rally behind would be extremely useful and likely to make a positive impact. I think the #Perl7 announcement was an attempt at exactly this, and I hope the newly elected Steering Council + the Perl 5 Core decide on this soon! 🙂

#Perl7 is of course a good thing on a bigger scale, but... but just remember the times when voicing the idea of renaming #perl5 to #perl7 (not silently forcing the rename) led to loud claims to boycott YAPC::Europe 2013. #perl #perl6 #rakulang
