These instruments help researchers observe the mysteries of the deep sea. Deep SOLO floats—which are part of the #ArgoProgram—can take observations as deep as 20,000 feet below the sea surface every 10 days over a lifetime of 6.5 years. Learn more. ⬇️ argo.ucsd.edu/expansion/deep…
Congrats to the #ArgoProgram for winning the 2022 IEEE Corporate Innovation Award! We're excited to keep working with the #ArgoCommunity! @IEEEAwards @EuroArgoERIC @argoireland @ukargo @argogermany @argospain1 @argo_france @noaa_aoml @noaapmel @Scripps_Ocean @WHOI @UW
WOOT! Yes, @ClarkGRichards! this deployment is from our very own @OceanMat_ters (Mat Dever) who deployed 10 #RBRargoCTD to test the impact of pressure on conductivity in the #CanaryIslands for the #ArgoProgram @EuroArgoERIC (thanks Mat for the RSK file and photo!)
The ocean plays a big role in the Earth’s system, from regulating CO2 levels to providing food. However, measuring ocean characteristics has always been a challenge. @IEEEAwards recognises the #ArgoProgram as an innovative way to measure characteristics using 4000 floats.
In Greek mythology, Jason sailed upon the Argo in search of the golden fleece. Today, @UCSanDiego’s #ArgoProgram is on its own heroic quest: gathering critical #environmental data on oceanic and atmospheric impacts of #ClimateChange. #IEEEAwards2022
To deliver a quantitative description of the changing state of the upper #ocean and the patterns of ocean #climate variability, @UCSanDiego’s #ArgoProgram will eventually have 4,000 #robotic floats sailing the seas, measuring temperature, salinity, and velocity. #IEEEAwards2022
We are thrilled to announce that #Argoprogram has been awarded the 2022 Corporate Innovation #IEEEAwards for "innovation in large-scale autonomous observations in #oceanography with global impacts in marine and #climatescience & #technology " 👏Honored to be part of it #ICTSNews

On 20 May 2025, we had the great honour and pleasure of welcoming Prof Tony Haymet, the renowned #oceanographer and @ScienceChiefAu, to our Tokyo office. He has a long collaboration with @JAMSTEC_PR. #OceanObservation #ArgoProgram #Geoscience #LifeScience
Congratulations to the international #Argoprogram for their recognition by @IEEEAwards, being awarded the IEEE Corporate Innovation Award 🏆 IMOS is proud to participate in this collaborative initiative, coordinating the Australian contribution to the global Argo array. 🇦🇺🌊
How much ship time did you get last year? ⛴️ COVID-19 may have cancelled your #researchcruise, but #autonomousfloats continued to deliver over a million data points each day. 📈 Take a look at the numbers from the #ArgoProgram since March here bit.ly/3jrcUG6
#BOCATS2 cruise (OVIDE 2021 section) is now over, but science continues! New postdoc position @Lops_Brest on the 'Physical mechanisms involved in deep CO2 storage variability in the North-Atlantic', check it out! @Euro_Sea #ArgoProgram #OVIDE 👇👇 umr-lops.fr/Le-Laboratoire…
