Just finished 2 hours updating #auditory_processing handouts for online course : It's way too wet and cold to go outside.
@Doug_Lemov so helpful for #auditory_processing difficulties
When you need students to listen, go "low and slow" with your voice; shift your tone; match that to a shift to a more formal physical pose... More details and how to train with us here: teachlikeachampion.org/blog/a-quiet-p…
If you suspect a child / student has a profile of #dyslexia, be aware that they may also have #auditory_processing difficulties and be struggling with handling incoming information efficiently. Pause, give processing time before expecting a response. Minimise distracting noise.
Super session today delivering a training for @SENDStation #auditory_processing difficulties. So many children are struggling with issues that are not being recognised or wrongly identified as learning or behavioural problems.
Note to teachers using You Tube/ similar clips in class (anything with visuals and soundtrack): Your students with #dyslexia #auditory_processing weaknesses may struggle to keep up and need to watch more than once. @sendcogirl @SEND_Action @BDAdyslexia
Remember to take into account that background Christmas music can make focus, attention and listening difficult #auditory_processing issues. When combined with #dyslexia, #working_memory suffers as well.
Today I'm going to practise again on Meludia and see if it has and see if I can improve #melody #auditory_processing #auditory_discrimination @MeludiaWW
My concern is the number of teachers/ schools who suggest that students have an #ADHD profile when it might actually be #auditory_processing difficulties.

‘Wizzy’s Words’ is a book of 70, illustrated, modern nursery rhymes incorporating the oral vocabulary that has been shown to signal future success if developed...
So common @nadine1osborne : It is really challenging for students if their profile includes #dyslexia #auditory_processing difficulties and #executive_function difficulties. I have found it helpful to work with sensory weaknesses + structured interventions @mckiemastery
#LitLearn2024 Hearing about the connection between Dyslexia, DLD and ADHD. Co-morbidities make it even more challenging for our learners. Very informative presentation @IDA_Ontario
Please suggest any short activities/games to support rhyming development @joshuaseigal @Wizzyswords #auditory_processing
It's worth noting that there is a high degree of comorbidity between #dyslexia and #auditory_processing difficulties, this has implications for how teachers accommodate by how they speak , #wait_time etc.
