That is the whole reason they design this piece of trash in the first place. This is the BEST example of design OVER functionality. And see they place "Design is not about how it look, is about how it works" in the beginning of the event I only feel disgusting.

There’s A Reason Why Certain Designs Are Called Functional Designs… They Are Designs That Are Intuitive And Effective. They Show Clarity, Simplicity And Help To Achieve The Intended Goal. They Are Very Practical, Just Like These Ones! @StephanieInii 😁😁😁

As a designer, I always tell founders: Design amplifies value, but it doesn't create it. 🎯 If the core solution doesn't stop the bleeding for the customer, the best logo in the world won't save the business. Function > Form. Always.

it is ironic that the era of “form follows function” in design has lead to the creation of objects that are uglier and less functional

Old versions of things. Built different.

As functions increase the ability of designers to find the right UI/UX for them decreases. That decline is multiplied by restricted interfaces (mobile screen size, lack of OS level UI controls, etc.).

Functionality and looks. I don’t want something functional when it’s ugly and don’t want something pretty when it’s not functional. Functionality should go together with looks

The function of the Design is to FUNCTION.

Exactly. As a designer, I was always taught to put function over form at all times.

Function ALWAYS comes first. Does the space make life easier, smoother, faster, calmer? If not, start again. Sorry 💔 Clarity. A good design doesn’t confuse its users. You should understand the space immediately without someone explaining it.

Function of a design is letting the design FUNCTION. Gbam❗❗🤟

Making sure every element sends the right message. That’s the core of functional design 👍 What a great day to get going 😁

Design sense will indeed be a differentiator in products. Even in well funded startups there is so much vibecoded tasteless design that I get a turnoff when I open the page This is not the fault of AI indeed. It is the fault of the human who just leaves the whole thing to the AI…

Here’s what I mean by this… Design must serve cognition, not only aesthetics. Yes, beautiful screens catches the eye. But clarity keeps the user. I once redesigned a dashboard that looked cleaner at a glance. Users then took longer to find basic actions. A thread 🧵

Lately, I’ve learnt the importance of designing for cognition not just aesthetics.

I see design as a kind of back and forth conversation with the person using your app/product. You’re not talking to them directly, but your design decisions communicate with them, they understand everything through the choices you make in the design

Ever saw posts asking to guess which one is male sign in these toilet gender indicators ? That is the classic example for Usability vs Aesthetics.. the main goal of the design is Usability supported by aesthetics, not one challenging other

I will always, always prefer function-led design for practical items over pretty for pretty’s sake designs. And this is in terms of aesthetics. A machine designed to its authentic form will almost always be more beautiful than ones trying to be something that it’s not

Yeah it's no big deal. Selecting the correct option of the below two choices for a Christmas gift for your wife only really basically determines the entire fate of your children, family, friends, neighbors, etc. over the next 20 - 1,000 years. So no pressure
