we don't hire SWEs we only hire 10x electrical engineers and put the bad ones on the software team to do the easy work
🚨Windsurf launches SWE-1, their first AI models trained on more than just code. They optimize for the ENTIRE software engineering process. Here’s what this means for the future of software engineering:
🚨 Announcing SWE-1, trained specifically for @windsurf_ai [1 / 8] This family of models is optimized for the entire software engineering stack, not just coding. Here's everything you need to know 🧵
Finally get to share what I've been working on at Windsurf. Today we launch SWE-1, a frontier software engineering model built for Windsurf. Check it out for free now. This is just the beginning of our journey in training capable, agentic, SOTA models.
It's time for Wave 9 and we're launching a family of models we've trained called SWE-1! Based on internal evals and product usage, SWE-1 is near and in some cases exceeds existing frontier model performance at software engineering tasks. This is just the beginning of us…
it's really hard as a young engineer i think to switch from thinking of sw engineering as the practice of building static artifacts (code) to the practice of building and maintaining living systems involving people and running computers. but i think that makes a big difference.
- if you are SWE, learn the fundamentals of CS vs learning a framework/how to code - prototype a LOT: build tiny projects, fail fast, and learn quickly. Stay at bleeding edge - think across disciplines: understand problems deeply, build user- empathy, build a sense of "taste",…
Interesting thread @MohapatraHemant. I would like to know similar thread on what should engineers do in this age of AI as application layer is going to be what that matters.
go read this if you want to learn about bridging the hw and sw gap and embedded architectural patterns great introduction for sw engineers looking to dabble in hardware (the dark side)
Btw I don’t say this lightly but SWE in the traditional sense is dead in < 2 years You will still need smart, capable engineers But anything that involves raw coding and no taste is done for o6 will build you basically anything
Do you know KiCad, onshape, C++/Rust, chip design, semiconductor device physics, or process engineering? We are building a fab and factory. Also have best internships ever Engineering • SF Office • Full Time -Automation Engineer -Manufacturing Engineer -Embedded Software…
Researchers from Princeton NLP have developed SWE-agent. It's an open-sourced AI agent that turns GPT-4 into an autonomous software engineer. The agent achieved accuracy similar to Devin and resolved 12.29% of issues autonomously. x.com/_carlosejimene…
SWE-Agent is an open-source software engineering agent with a 12.3% resolve rate on SWE-Bench! Check out SWE-agent in action at swe-agent.com Repo: github.com/princeton-nlp/…
Usually this discourse gets bogged with students asking “why do I need the theory I just want to write code and work in MANGA bro” and it’s, guys the SWE domain is littered with the remnants of math and CS, even when abstracted away to engineering! You need to know it!

I've published the 3rd article in the Applied Reverse Engineering series covering the low-level details of exceptions and interrupts, and some leads to getting started with abusing SEH. revers.engineering/applied-re-exc…
