GarPax drafted the right people most of the time. It’s a massive difference. Kirk-BG-Deng-Noah-Rose-Taj-Butler-Portis-Lauri-Coby were all the right picks. That was a far superior FO in terms of talent eval.

It’s amazing how well GarPax drafted but failed in every other way. AKME failed to do anything but put together a great 40 game team one half of one season. Only the Bulls.

Just compare garpax first 5-6 years to AMKE. Way more success. Now add in they also had two seasons with the best record in the NBA despite a bunch of injuries. And later built another team that was a Pau injury away from another chance. They tanked after and had bad lotto luck.

The only promising young player on the #Bulls: Coby White…who was drafted by GARPAX. AKME has literally nothing positive for the Bulls future. Not one piece added.
GARPAX actually left this Bulls front office with a good foundation of young players. No surprise: AK messed it up.
To add insult to injury, this is the infamous #Promise draft where GARPAX promised Hutchison if he didn’t meet with any other teams they’ll draft him. The 7th pick wasn’t this horrible spot to be in. They didn’t capitalize in trying to move up or get talent that fits together.
I’ll never forgive GarPax for this. The Bulls were being linked to MPJ leading up to the draft. Paxson said they spent time w/ him and were in contact throughout the draft process. The injury concerns were real, but this was their chance to take a shot and they chose not to.
