Did Vatican II change the Church’s teaching on salvation? Cardinal Müller says no, the SSPX says yes... But when you actually read the documents… the contradictions are hard to ignore. Is this “hermeneutic of continuity” a theological sleight of hand? This case study on
SSPX Update 34.0: Cardinal Jean-Marc Aveline, President of the Bishops Conference in France, in an interview with KTO called upon dialogue between the SSPX and Rome saying ,“I am convinced that only dialogue allows us to continue proclaiming the Gospel,” and that the
Yes, you're wrong. The SSPX created schism in 1988 when Archbishop Lefebvre consecrated four bishops. Bishop Williamson could have ended the schism by signing the letter from the Vatican affirming that he accepted Vatican II in light of tradition but he did not. Now the SSPX is

Not having any bishops does not make the SSPX disappear. Every other similar religious community, society or priestly fraternity is fine without bishops. There are enough bishops willing to ordain men using the old rite of they want that. Even if they needed a bishop, they could
JUST IN: Pope Leo XIV responds to Cardinal Marx — Says Vatican does not approve blessing of same sex couples. Adds a blessing can be given to “all people” like at the end of Mass. Leo states—— “First of all, I believe it is very important to understand that the unity or
It's important to note the magnitude of different things in the Church by the number of people associated with it. There are ~1.4 billion Catholics & few issues directly affect even 1%. The SSPX claim about 600,000 people associated so about 0.05%. Card. Marx oversees a
Traditional Latin Mass numbers in the USA: 463 locations (churches, oratories, chapels) with connection to dioceses, FSSP, ICK, etc. 103 locations offered by the SSPX That brings the 2026 USA total to: 566 locations for the Traditional Latin Mass in the United States in 2026.
Ever since the SSPX announced the forthcoming consecrations of bishops, many aspects have been discussed. One aspect, however, which lies at the core of the SSPX’s argumentation—namely, their concept of the origin of episcopal power of governance and its theological
SSPX superior Father Pagliarani states that Pope Leo XIV has still not replied to their request to meet prior to consecration date of July 1. Adds Pope Francis met with him very swiftly. He states: I am nonetheless surprised that there has so far been no personal reply or
The SSPX had zero influence on almost 100% of Catholics at that time.
I'm all for the consecrations, but denouncing the FSSP for "legalism" when the SSPX itself stringently pursued an accord with Benedict - so much so that Fr Themann (a likely candidate for the episcopate) defended it in a speech against the Resistance in 2013 - is pretty rich.

Francis was a tactician. He was overly kind to the SSPX because he did not have control over them. Flattery and magnanimity towards them were his way to win their favor. Leo XIV is different. He may just try to sit this one out, perhaps because the less noise is made, the better?

Some considerations on Totalist Sedevacantism, SSPX, FSSP & the Cassiciacum Thesis The Cassiciacum Thesis (also known as sedeprivationism) is a precise theological explanation developed by the Dominican theologian Bishop Michel-Louis Guérard des Lauriers in 1979. It accounts for
It shows the nature of the crisis and the necessity for having groups that preserve the true faith such as the SSPX
Let's cut the bs shall we! ? The problem is this: the SSPX condemns the new mass . The fssp does not. I suggest Everyone in SSPX should just join fssp. Either that or get rid of the hardliners that condemn the new mass. The old mass is perfect in some ways but clearly using
Martin Luther didn’t submit to the magisterium. The SSPX does
These days almost every SSPX priest is fully supportive of the decision. If they weren't, they could just join the ICRSS, FSSP, or IBP. If a priest or two leave, it would be a surprise.
From what I've heard, it does depend on the priest. What would you call "rejecting the Church's authority." The SSPX has never been excommunicated, nor the Bishops of the SSPX. In 88 the Vatican falsely declared that the SSPX had excommunicated themselves.

After all the FSSP was founded by former SSPX priests who refused to go along with the bishop consecrations. The whole situation could/would be reminiscent of 1988. Maybe the FSSP will see a growth in numbers or maybe even new SSPX priests
I know this is anecdotal, but I go to the FSSP. In my experience SSPX attendees are just as welcome as anyone else. Now if the SSPX were excommunicated and the faithful would reject the Church's authority too, then they would not be allowed to partake at communion, yes.
If they get harder against the SSPX, they might try to deliberately exclude SSPX supporters from attendance or communion. Also, it's harder to justify going to a Latin Mass where the priest hates the SSPX.
If a Catholic continues to go to an SSPX service after their order is declared schismatic they will excommunicate themselves. No official decree from the Vatican is needed.
You have not. No priest in the SSPX is married. Some former members of the SSPX may have got married.
When will you meet with the @SSPX Holy Father? It is of dire need in this Crisis in the Church. You have met with so many others, even of different Faiths. Why will you not meet with Faithful Sons of Holy Mother Church? Your predecessor His Holiness Pope Francis met with them?
Ive posted on married SSPX priests, the ones who left for a man and a woman.
A bold statement @TaylorRMarshall ..You will know them by their fruit. A private audience with David Axelrod the chief political strategist for Obama & no audience with the SSPX… A trip through Africa ¬ stopping at Nigeria…….3 homo enablers on 60 min.. sunt mala quae libas
It goes to show that the rebranded SSPX still averted to anything slightest related to +Williamson or Sedevacantism. Neither of them is (were) sedevacantists per se, but they were definitely closer or more sympathetic to it, that's enough for the SSPX to dread them.
A Letter to Our Holy Father from an SSPX Catholic - Crisis Magazine Wow.. must read!! crisismagazine.com/opinion/a-lett…
Youre the liar, a Bad faith actor, and a boomer who copy paste photos in the web, justifying the SSPX sect.
The talk of confusion is silly when about a global, over 2000 year old organization filled with philosophy and theology PhD’s. On a separate note / based on a different x line of banter: who cares if or that sspx is in schism? Let sspx drift away if they want that.
Every one is in but the SSPX. What a farce! And I’m not attending an SSPX chapel.
"After having sought desperately and in vain for peace and unity in collegiality, synodality, ecumenism, dialogue, listening, inclusion, shared ecological concern, human fraternity, the incessant proclamation of the rights of man, etc., the authorities will end up realizing—far
I would love to see a picture of that. I’ve never witnessed anything like attending the SSPX. We don’t have that luxury — the pope Is ready to pray with Muslims and turn a blind eye to Catholic bishops ordaining anglicans. But god forbid we ordain traditional Catholic priests
