I think Sendek was trying to call timeout. Refs frequently look the other way when players try to call a timeout when they don't have one left. Happened in that BSU 3 OT game vs SDSU (Buchanan tried to call one). It has to be egregious. Clock not starting on time bigger issue

Refs blew two calls in favor of KY, don’t know why Sendek didn’t challenge either one. The travel before the breakaway dunk in OT and the phantom foul on Oweh near the end of regulation. Oweh made one free throw and it ended up helping the game go to OT.

Refs can and do determine the ball available when, in a literal sense, a player with the ball is still at least partially on the court. Sendek was too slow and refs have plausible defense.
