Respectfully, I feel exactly the opposite of you, for what it’s worth. I even saw the Smashing Pumpkins live last year. I loved them in 2007 but their sound, to me, doesn’t seem as timeless as Nirvana

Respect the opinion but Nirvanas music is much more elaborate and emotionally driven. Smashing pumpkins too 2D for me. Sounds like every other mid band that capitalized on Nirvana paving the way, which is why Kurt Cobain is a household name while Billy Corgan is a bit forgotten.
