Tomorrow's War Today!
What is good?—Whatever augments the feeling of power, the will to power, power itself, in man. What is evil?—Whatever springs from weakness. What is happiness?—The feeling that power increases—that resistance is overcome.
The europoor meme is the thing that Americans get most right about Europe. They're often even more correct than they realise, especially when it comes to comparative wages. x.com/vrexec/status/…
And you’re telling me that it’s rare to make €500,000 a year working in finance in Paris vs NYC? Is that a joke? This place looks like the pinnacle of wealth in every direction. I spent the day walking around and all I see everywhere are beautifully dressed and good looking…
So as a gaffer, if your dp and director decide on a naturalistic lighting style and you get told to set up a single in said style, but instead set up a classical 1940s beauty shot with eye lights and a shimmering hair light, how is that gonna go for you? x.com/egeofanatolia/…
An interesting aspect of having so many assumptioncells gathered on one platform is that people will quote someone with “filmworker” in bio and assume they don’t know how aesthetics and lighting trends changed overtime.
An interesting aspect of having so many wordcells gathered on one platform, is that people are educated enough to know what words like gaffer mean, but they don't understand actually understand aesthetics/design or why lighting trends changed over time. x.com/egeofanatolia/…

Christopher Nolan doesn't see streaming platforms as an innovation for cinema: “We work in a mature business. I like to say we’re Heinz, we make ketchup. We’re not a tech company. The innovation in our industry has always been and should always be what goes on the screen, not…
If you had the political capital and the tens of trillions of dollars (with the ability to allocate and control it over a 100+yrs) to embark on building a new New York here, you could just use a fraction of that power to seize actual New York. x.com/dennismhogan/s…
I agree. A new metropolis. A new center of culture and finance. You might even say…a new london
Convinced this is a way to avoid inheritance taxes. Especially for Brits that also live and work in California or have dual American citizenship. x.com/seamus_coughli…
>builds up generational wealth >doesn't leave it to the next generation I genuinely don't understand how you could make such an *insane* amount of money without your primary motivation being your family's future
Stumbled across this "4K" yt upload of Chronik der Anna Magdalena Bach (1968) by Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet Likely an up-rez from a HD source but the image is pristine (besides an unfortunate watermark) Has always been my fave film of theirs. m.youtube.com/watch?v=aCfy4h…

Godard directing and releasing Two or Three Things I Know About Her, La Chinoise and Weekend all in the span of one year is absolutely insane lol how the hell do you do that
A lot less than they would've made if they'd spun up a 'pen testing' company, disclosed the vulnerability ethically, then charged every other rail company in the country to have their ticketing systems 'pen tested'. x.com/Byron_Wan/stat…
🇨🇳 Li Liu (left pic) and 🇨🇳 Wanqing Yu (right pic), two Chinese students living in Leeds, have been locked up after exploiting a massive loophole in Britain’s rail compensation system. Liu and Yu raked in a whopping £156,743 — Liu stole £141,031, Yu £15,712 — by scamming the…
The Lloyds Building is great, looks like exactly the kind of place you’d expect satanic Aristotelian bankers to have their lair.
This is how all great art is made btw x.com/TroyMP94/statu…
Even then, he’s been saying since the 70s that Taxi Driver was something he was going to turn into a movie or he was on the verge of doing in real life. How he became this cutesy online figure is weird.
If you can’t recommend someone a good movie made in the last 25 years that’s on you.
Kodak actually re-released their Ektachrome stock in the late 2010s. Although it's never really stuck me as a particularly 'colourful' stock in the same way that three-strip Technicolor is colourful. It shows there is a new demand for different palettes. x.com/0xProcession/s…
There has been a shift back towards warmer tones and colourfullness in the last 5-10 years or so. The success of movies like La La Land might have something to do with this. But with the prevalence of 'gritty' horror, dark/austere palettes will still be with us for a while.
