What a worthwhile way to spend time!

Viewing this one simple tweet last night inspired me to have my 3rd graders give “shout outs” to each other during our reflection time at the end of class today. Students identifying the greatness they notice in each other has so much power!

Speed is important. Work fast and iterate. People rarely remember the first draft, but everyone remembers the final draft. Speed is unimportant. People rarely remember how long it took you to do the job, but everyone remembers how well you did the job.

This! This! All of this! Early childhood education was single-handedly the best investment we ever made.

A reminder for those poring over today’s NAEP scores: We will never meaningfully improve 4th grade achievement until we acknowledge that both math & literacy find their roots in the years PRIOR to school entry (which, for a 9-year-old, is more than 50% of one’s lifespan). 🧵
