The Prime Minister is saying we don’t give a stuff about the future by approving and enabling it. Woodside can’t do it without Govt approval. Time for @climatecouncil to say so.

We need to rewrite the PRRT taxes on gas production. The government was right to make changes to the PRRT last term, but there are still far too many loopholes. Australian taxpayers deserve a fair return when our resources are sold overseas, and they’re not getting it yet.

Breaking: Labor just announced its intent to approve Woodside’s gas expansion. Environment Minister Murray Watt has given Woodside 10 days to respond but all signs point to final approval — a move that would make this Labor’s first major climate decision of their second term.
Make no mistake: it’s a disastrous call. No amount of spin can turn decades more of gas into climate leadership.
This must not proceed. “Despite election promises and a clear mandate to govern with ambition, Labor sided with #Woodside — one of the world's biggest fossil fuel companies — over Traditional Owners, climate scientists, and communities fighting for a liveable future.”
