The capitalists are trying so hard to scare everyone back into submission. It's not going to work. (And economics isn't a real science.) cnn.com/2022/11/16/eco…

This is completely insane. Why even have municipal councils any more. Just let mayors rule their cities directly.

The Ford government is proposing new legislation that would give it a tighter grip on regional governance, and allow the mayors of Toronto and Ottawa to pass bylaws that support its priorities with the support of just one-third of council. bit.ly/3USxTTk

It's pretty obvious he's trying to replace as many people as he can with cheaper alternatives. The open question is how long less expensive staff will be able to keep things running. Chances are, Twitter is going to get really fucky in the next few months.

They can pass whatever they like, COVID isn't over.

A joint resolution to terminate the national emergency concerning COVID-19 has PASSED in the Senate, 62-36, needing only a simple majority. It now goes the House, which can simply choose to not bring it up.

Weird how people like this never take their own advice and go get a real job. Almost like they know it's bullshit.

Worth noting that Dems won't stop this because they do it, too. It's entrenched in the whole system.

America, it seems like a REALLY good time to re-state my absolute amazement that you haven’t made this kind of election cheating illegal. #gerrymandering #GOP #riggedelections #cheating #VOTE

To put this in perspective in the 2010 tea party wave Republicans picked up 63 seats

As of now NBC is projecting the GOP gets the house by *1 vote* (+ or -4). Wild.

We're at the point where trading globe-sweeping viral illnesses for regular Kaiju attacks against coastal cities with moderate advanced warning would be a pretty fair bargain.

Do it anyway.

This chaos you're seeing on Twitter now is literally the same chaos many a worker goes through when a venture capitalist buys out a food place, retail spot, or grocery store, and then squeezes labor and quality to suck every penny before it goes belly up.

These are people. Are they being helped or shoved aside like garbage?

Only on @KDKA ... The city takes down this encampment on the Downtown banks of the Allegheny, saying it was full of drug dealers. Workers find between 40 and 50 used syringes. Story coming up.

As a citizen of both countries who has voted in both, I have to point out that Americans largely don't see a problem here. Every part of the political machine, including the bureaucracy, is partisan and they mostly think it's fine.

Yeah, this is one of those things about our neighbours that all Canadians are puzzled by. Up here elections are run under a neutral banner that manages everything from riding boundaries to voter rolls. Within an hour after polls close we know the results, boom, time for bed.

For the election we meticulously count all of the results so that we can know who has won. For the pandemic we have stopped counting all of the results as we already know that the virus has won.

You can't reform this.

How did you guys write this without snorting coffee out your noses?
