I made the mistake of believing in the idea of Pitch Black b/c the visually impaired community is important to me. But the more money I see pouring in, the videos of the devs shiny new space & toys tells me it’s not about that. It’s not about the visually impaired. It’s about $$.
Other VAs harassing those that speak out is not okay. It’s not okay to be a “AAA” game & not pay your workers. Even worse, the 2 or 3 VAs that are getting paid (out of dozens that aren’t) seem to be getting a couple hundred for thousands of lines?
It’s not ok to manipulate creatives by dangling roles in their faces so they join your server & follow only to ghost them. It is not okay to make thousands of $$ in public funding and grants, & not pay 99% of your VAs. It’s not okay to refuse to hold auditions & cast arbitrarily.
VAs: Doing free work for @dusklightpro is not the only way to break into indie gaming, trust me. I’ve done it. And I’ve made mistakes. Creating a game for the visually impaired is great but it does NOT excuse you from proper business practices or proper hiring practices.
Having anxiety is not fun. It drains you, makes you think about the worst things, makes you think so little of yourself. Don’t judge someone who has it, please. They don’t intend to be this way and trust me they’d switch it off if they could.
This is the reality of the copyright system in current day. No one is allowed to upload footage of something the company doesn't see fit. That or take the ad rev for it. But those same companies are completely willing to then turn around and use your footage for their profit.
