Concerning that language learning is less widespread in schools in less affluent areas. Language learning should be an opportunity for everyone, not a privilege. German in particular is an extremely practical & sought-after skill – the highest in-demand among UK employers.


Delighted to see @InterNewcastle pioneering work as a City of Languages recognised in this way. Newcastle and other Cities met the APPG last year and have gone from strength to strength. 94,000 young participants in this year's @EYFOLNE Festival of Languages!

French, German, Spanish and computer science grades are more than half a grade lower than pupils’ grades in English and maths. But pupils who enter art and design (photography) tend to achieve half a grade or more higher than in English and maths. vist.ly/3n3qx3r
