I know all the talk recently is about men’s obsession with the Roman Empire but have you tried asking the women in your life how often they think about Anne Boleyn?

Reflecting on completing my ECT years, leaving my first teaching post and beginning a new one this September. Genuinely no clue how it’s possible I am entering my third year of teaching… now for some summer reading📖🔖📚

27 June 1943 | A boy was born in the female camp in Auschwitz II-Birkenau. His name was Jerzy Homik, he was Polish. This is the first case outside of the #Zigeunerlager that a newborn child was registered in Auschwitz. He received number 155909. 1/2

One of the best things about teaching is trailing new ideas, love this idea for retrieval practice that I’ve tried with Yr10 and Yr11! Apologies I cannot find the tweet I saw this from to say thanks for the idea🙂

This is very telling. All Humanities subjects want to see a reduction in KS4 content, more than any other curriculum area, but in History, 95% of teachers think there's too much content at GCSE. Exam boards need to engage here. It is hard to develop skills with this much content.

11 years ago today I was a care-leaver receiving my A level results, having spent almost 2 years in unregulated accommodation. No additional marks were given for having written coursework with no electricity, having done exams on 3 hrs sleep given the raves, police incidents &...

Recruitment into postgrad teacher training in England has gone very badly this year, a sign of renewed teacher supply challenges that need addressing - How bad is it? - Why has it gone so badly? - What do we do now? 🧵👇

I was inspired by @AndrewSweet4's recent wall display post and adapted it for a laminated 'writing mat' that students can reference on desks while doing extended writing. Full credit to Mr Sweet. Download the editable version (Publisher): cutt.ly/kLeTpNX #historyteacher

Really helpful thread given that I made this exact mistake with year 9 today, who became very focused on counting up the marks for each question and adding it up to check it was right (clearly they don’t trust my maths)

Exam feedback lessons 🧵 In my experience, as soon as you return the paper, you lose them. It then all becomes about the %, them vs their mate, what person X got in that 9 marker, comparisons to the class average, “what grade is this??”, “how many marks is it for a 7?!”, etc…

There is a man in India who held his arm up one day and decided to never put it down. It's been 45+ years.

Another fabulous #historyteacher from @UoN_ITE #Classof2021. Despite barely being in the same room as each other all year due to covid restrictions, it was incredible watching this bunch form strong friendships even over Teams. They made the challenge of online learning feel easy

Hi @BBCiPlayer I wonder if, in the run up to the 1st Y11 gcse exams in 2 yrs, you'd be willing & able to make An Inspector Calls available on your streaming service please? It's a useful teaching, learning & revision resource that teachers & students will value in coming weeks.
