One of the best debugging tips that I got was to delete things. Macro: chop out whole sections of code at a time to see where the issue really is (your assumption is often wrong). Micro: chop out sections of objects / functions to see what still works.

Thinking fast + slow. Fast Name a painting: Mona Lisa Name a band: The Beatles Slow Name a painting: Guernica Name a band: The Ronettes Slow is always more interesting. Train slow so when you need to think fast your subconscious is primed.

Many faces of a maker: - The Entrepreneur lives in the future, never in the past, rarely in the present - The Manager craves order, compulsively clinging to the status quo - Technician is already doing : "if you want something done right, do it yourself". Work === happiness.

Heuristics are something you hear a lot about in tech. I found this definition useful: "A heuristic is a rule of thumb that makes things simple and easy to implement. The main advantage is that the user knows this mental model is not perfect, just expedient."

It's been #nocode since 1999. Dreamweaver slice was the queen. Then Flash....That was beyond King.

Don’t annoy your readers by over-explaining: telling them something they can figure out. Try not to use words like “surprisingly,” “predictably” and “of course”. Those words put a value on a fact before the reader encounters the fact. Have trust. - On Writing Well
