Scholars, journalists, and migration experts including @JeremyKonyndyk @sallyhayd @SaChellali @AhlamChemlali @EliziaVolkmann @NoeNicholas & @hrw have raised alarm on Tunisia's violence against Black migrants & refugees, & the EU's subsidising of its violations, since Spring 2023.
Every major EU 🇪🇺 government—even Italy’s—is well aware that Black migrants & refugees aren’t safe in Tunisia 🇹🇳. Many even know Saied’s forces routinely rape & torture them. The problem is that EU *citizens* voting for anti-migration governments either don’t know or don’t care.
