Today is #IWD2024 and I have been thinking about the young girls who may be aspiring to take up careers as #WomenInScience. Here's a letter from myself at the Croatian Parliament (sabor.hr) to a young me, with some advice that may have been helpful along the way.
Most of our science PhD students will go on to careers that involve more than just science, and so we need to provide them experiences beyond just research. A PhD should also be about learning communication, leadership, project management, and a whole set of professional skills.
