Everytime meet someone mnch7al hadi machto kanfkr then I realize that all the spent we've spent apart, I've just spent smoking and thinking.

People pretending that every pareto optimal allocation is good never ceases to amaze me. Pareto is like an engineers metric, not a welfare metric. Any wealth distribution over the current wealth is by definition pareto optimal. Are all wealth distributions good ? No obviously.

Very interesting indeed. But give me a Pareto improvement or don’t talk about invisible hand failing.

I will die defending Rust, until they ask me to implement cyclical structures with it then I'm outta here.

I remember seeing this when I was learning about martingales but I forgor 😭😭😭

TRUE or FALSE: The longest run of heads in n fair coin tosses is with high probability about log₂ n.

Yeah it is really crazy that about half people dont reach the median level of knowledge in EVERY field. We're really crashing as a society

Very distressing that the enormous majority of people's mathematical literacy is well below average.

He wasn't doing it out of pure intellectual interest in maths, but because he wanted to disprove neoclassical economics to their core. Neoclassical economists were relying on calculus to prove some of their claims. Disproving calculus was a blanket disproval for everything else.

In Marx's time, the conceptual status of infinitesimals was genuinely in flux. That he was thinking about it at all suggests an above-average degree of mathematical sophistication for a non-mathematician.

rage bait used to be believable

can't believe economics would just put together a theory that only explains ~33% of total economic growth and just pretends they understand it. if econ was as rigorous as physics they wouldn't use made up ad-hoc conepts like "productivity", instead it'd be "dark technology"

Von Neumann was a man of his own. Perhaps he was too smart.
