Recall Distortion in Neural Network Pruning and the Undecayed Pruning Algorithm: arxiv.org/abs/2206.02976 In this project with @BucknellU students, @Xiny_wind & @civilstat, we find out that network pruning may affect performance across classes in positive and negative ways. 1/N
The camera-ready of our #NeurIPS2022 paper is out! Recall Distortion in Neural Network Pruning and the Undecayed Pruning Algorithm: arxiv.org/abs/2206.02976 We study the effect of network pruning across classes, which surprisingly leads to more balanced models sometimes! 1/N
I am happy to share that I took an additional role as Affiliate Faculty in Latin American Studies at Bucknell University. I am looking forward to contribute with my personal background and professional skills to the work of my colleagues! bucknell.edu/academics/coll…
Guess what? I'm a PhD coordinator now, so I'm inviting applications to our PhD Program in #orms (OR/Stats/ML) to start in fall 2023. Applications open mid September. If you can distribute this to promising undergrads, I'd greatly appreciate it. More info: herbert.miami.edu/graduate/find-…
My collaborators @Xiny_wind, @blauigris & Aidan Good (a @BucknellU student) are virtually presenting our most recent work in today's Sparsity in Neural Networks poster session @sparsenn: sparseneural.net/home Follow the thread for a description of each paper.

The @USC trio @BDilkina, @phebe_vayanos & Koenig wrapping up the amazing 4 days of #cpaior2022. Thank you for all the #copr #orms #ml fish! The @AnalyticsLabBU delegation is heading back to @BucknellU!
Very proud of my advisee Mark Pesacreta for his amazing honors thesis defense at @BucknellU today. Mark studied counterfactual explanations and interpretable machine learning models to audit automated underwriting systems for mortgage applications.
Hannah Sieg and Yinuo Jing presented their work from last Summer as Emerging Scholars fellows at @BucknellU’s Kallman Symposium this past Saturday!
We are very grateful to the guest speakers at our webinars of 2021! They all have presented excellent talks, bringing up interesting topics and insightful information!

Did you know that some neural networks can be compressed without affecting their underlying models? Some of the connections involved are at the 99th percentile of weight magnitude, all thanks to optimization! #orms Come see our #NeurIPS2021 poster at 7:30 PM EST today!
The wait is over: Deep Learning on Graphs is finally out! Those are two topics that I like very much, but I do not yet have a good intuition for how they go along together. So far, it has been a smooth ride.
