idc how “weird” you think a fic is (pairing OR tags) - its fandom etiquette as old as time that you don’t slag it off. “don’t like, don’t read” is a great concept and the tagging system WORKS. publicly shaming fic used to be a cancelable offence in fandom and still should be.

AO3 can only exist because it doesn't poke the bear. The moment you start making money, you give companies full reason to start a case against you for their IP. Some companies have policies allowing this. Other don't. Many would be more than happy to have all fanworks taken down.
I just read a post that said some tiktokers want ads on AO3 to be able to monetize their fanfiction. We are losing the plot people.
AO3 does not need an app. AO3 does not need an algorithm. Nothing should be bumped to the top of the default browse except for new fics (which encourages posting) and you should be wholly responsible for filtering to find what you like. Very few websites are still like this.
