Woke up to the news that my friend Brent Renaud was shot and killed while reporting in Ukraine. I’m still in shock and don’t really have words right now, but he was brilliant and kind and funny. This is a senseless loss, among many many other senseless deaths.
My friend Brent Renaud died today, killed while working as a photojournalist in Ukraine. Brent’s work excelled. But his friendship was better: He was humble, kind, gentle. He, almost frustratingly, always wanted to hear about others rather than talk about himself. 1/2
I don’t have enough words today about the loss of my friend, Brent Renaud. He was an amazing journalist, yes, but he was an even better person. Humble, empathetic, and really funny. I cannot believe he’s gone.
