Things were rockin' and rollin' at APO last night! We felt a 5.5 magnitude earthquake centered south of Carlsbad - check the telescope telemetry data that shows the movement! Photo courtesy of @ajlemma 🤩 earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/ev…

Congratulations to our own Observing Specialist and @nmsuastro grad student David DeColibus on publishing this paper about Uranus' strange moon Miranda, enabled by TripleSpec on the APO 3.5m. NASA should send a flagship mission to go study it! Oh wait... arxiv.org/abs/2204.10832

Fun fact! Did you know there is an astroid named after #NMSU? It is called Asteroid NEMSU! Check out this GIF of the asteroid zooming across the sky taken with the 1-meter at @ApachePointObs!

Congratulations to Adam Kowalski, an active user of both the 3.5m and 0.5m telescopes at APO!

Congrats to NSO & @LASPatCU researcher Dr. Adam Kowalski for being awarded the @AAS_Office 2022 #KarenHarveyPrize! He is recognized for his transformative research into stellar flares and their influence on the Sun, stars, and habitability of exoplanets. ow.ly/x4os50HKO08
