Preventing people from being in a high CO2 environment is caring about their comfort. It can cause headaches and various other negative physical sensations in the short term, but the people wouldn’t be able to place the cause.

Yes. Using the CO2 monitor you could also have opened the window intermittently to keep readings at a safer level, this is a legitimate approach when the weather is very cold. Even open a crack is beneficial, the temperature gradient will assist natural ventilation.

I cannot tolerate cold. I will stay at home with my windows tightly shut all winter. Pneumonia kills, too.

Kathryn LifeLearner reposted

Yes cause opening the window a crack when it’s +5 degrees Celsius would cause someone to get sick. I’m sure! They all had jackets with them. They were all adults. None of them were frail. I don’t like the cold either, but being slightly chilled for a few hours beats being sick

A co2 monitor can help show when the air becomes unsafe due to the lack of oxygen circulating.

You don’t understand how elastomeric respirator masks work.

Yes I can open window. Co2 comes right down when I do that. It happens when I forget to open windows especially when its cold. Its amazing how quickly CO2 rises in the enclosed space. I’m sure my brain does not appreciate the oxygen deprivation.

Are running hepa filters? Can you open the window a crack? Do you have to close the door? Or can you plan breaks at intervals that allow you to air out the room? If you don’t share a household w/anyone, your biggest concern is your brain lacking o2 to do your work effectively

My office at home goes up to 1300ppm when I close the door.

Thanks, yeah certified for another 3 yrs

What are our chances that in 3 yrs' time, or Yr 9 of the pandemic, 1st Aid training has caught up with science?...(not holding my breath.)

Kathryn LifeLearner reposted

My commiserations, and to having to deal with the daft comments in this thread. Fancy the 1st Aid trainer not having the most basic grasp of aerosol transmission. I hope you got through the course ok.

I just walked away & went to the bathroom before I said more. I wanted to say “none of us will be capable of doing first aid or cpr if we become disabled or die” or “I’d rather be a little cold now then feel sick later”. God I hate this timeline! #GetLoud #MaskUp

Asked if the windows opened & the instructor says “it’s too cold. I’m sorry you feel as if” I cut her off and said “it’s not my feelings, the machine says the air isn’t safe to breathe”. “Well we can’t open the windows because it’s cold” was her only response.

Just 7% of the world’s population is White, but when I asked strangers to guess, most thought it was upwards of 80%… This false sense of demographic security is dangerous, many have no idea they’re a global minority, and rapidly approaching the same status at home.
