Special Forces Master Sergeant Paul Sinnott instructed the Juniors on fieldcraft at Lab this Thursday. Fieldcraft skills are vital for the successful completion of ROTC summer training and just enjoying the High Country’s outdoor environment!

What did you do before 5 AM? App ROTC conducted our first of two six-mile ruck marches for the semester. Cadets had one hour and thirty minutes to complete the six miles for the RECONDO standard. Cadet Eblen had the fastest ruck time with an impressive time of 1:18. FOTM!

Exploring the High Country! App ROTC Residential Learning Community (RLC) members took a quick trip to the actual Blowing Rock today to learn about the iconic site and capture the view.

Making a Splash! App ROTC conducted the Army Combat Water Survival Test (CWST) this morning. The CWST consists of a 25-meter swim with a rifle, a gear drop, treading water for 3 minutes, and a platform jump with a rifle.

To Lead—you have to know where you are. App ROTC spent this last week training on Map Reading and Land Navigation. We will do the same next week. Always a joy training in the High Country environment.

App State ROTC conducted their workout this morning in remembrance of 9/11. The Battalion completed over 30 flights of steps and ended the workout with lunges, burpees, and broad jumps. The Ranger Challenge Team led the way by conducting their workout in gear and gas mask.

Since 2013, App ROTC has maintained Yosef’s Muskets and Rifles. He fires them when the team enters the stadium and ROTC Cadets shoot them when we score. We did not fire as much as we thought we would Saturday, but always an honor! Fire on the Mountain!

Green to Gold! Cameron Crowther transitioned from an Infantry Staff Sergeant to an App State ROTC Cadet, to an Active Duty Finance Corps Second Lieutenant. He was Commissioned today by Major Zach Jones, App State Professor of Military Science, and was pinned by his wife.
