Great authors are not in the habit of writing instagram-ready inspirational quotes. Lewis Carroll never said “All the best people are mad.” Tolkien never said this. They were both weird geniuses who avoided platitudes, & to apprehend their greatness you need to read their books.
The Galileo affair *has* been misrepresented, by a vast number of people, in different ways, and continues to be misrepresented on a daily basis on X. You can read Finocchiaro's "Retrying Galileo" which documented all the Galileo-related myths fron the 17th c up to the 90s.
This is in part because Tolkien was not writing fantasy literature
