Check out this Andy Warhol painting from the @vmfa. Warhol loved to make art about popular things and people. What do you like that is popular today? Fill up a page with drawings of it. You can use tracing paper or carbon paper to create repetition.
We talked to @acappetta from @ClevelandArt, who told us Campbell's Soup might have reminded Andy Warhol of his childhood. What kind of food do you enjoy at home? Mac n' cheese, pizza, or Andy's favorite tomato soup?
Andy Warhol liked to repeat the same image over and over, like this print of Marilyn Monroe's headshot. Try pressing a stamp all over a page then filling each print in with different colors and patterns for a fun #kidsart idea!
@malvernprimary Day 5 Erica’s Andy Warhol Strawberries 🍓 #MalvernMasterpiece Well done to all taking part, the artwork has been amazing!👏👏👏 Ive loved looking at it all. Thanks again to Team Malvern for another great Lockdown project. 👏👏👏
When we talked to Andy Warhol's nephew, James Warhola, he told us about how his uncle always wore wigs and owned different wigs for different occasions. Check out his wig in this self-portrait from @Tate. What do you think the occasion was?
Andy Warhol loved to make art out of things around the house, like soup cans in the pantry. What are three things in your house that you think Warhol would have drawn and printed?
We hope April showers will bring May flowers! See Andy Warhol's blooming canvas at @artinstitutechi . Warhol based these prints on photographs of flowers he found in a magazine, though he changed the arrangement + colors. Take your own photos of flowers and digitally alter them.
Andy Warhol noticed the everyday objects that usually stay in the back of our cabinets, like Brillo soap pads. He carefully copied and printed the logos on wooden boxes, which are now at @philamuseum @TheWarholMuseum @PUArtMuseum
For all those artsy kids stuck @ home: check out new podcast, Artmakers Rulebreakers. The first episode is all about Andy Warhol, including an interview with the artist's nephew on his uncle’s wig collection and tips for budding artists. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/art… @TheWarholMuseum
While you listen, try this: find one ordinary object in your house that you think could be extraordinary. Fold a piece of paper into four and draw that object in 4 diff ways - with diff lines, colors, moods, styles or even varieties - like cereal boxes or Legos. @TheWarholMuseum
Thanks to @rebeccaherz for inviting us to write about the object that has resonance for us now: the cardboard box! museumquestions.com/2020/04/26/wha…
podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/art… Send us your drawings to celebrate the everyday, household objects we can always look at in new ways.
