What I want most in life is to be happy. To me, this looks like: 1) health 2) enough 💰 to put the bills on autopay a modest vacation every few years 3) job security 4) free time 5) my own home, w/ distant neighbors & big windows

(Problematic) Idea (born of real issues): After every advising or office hour mtg there could be a follow-up email w/ a tipping screen - thank your prof w/ a buck or nominate them for a teaching or advising award. At least the barista got a COLA during this administration.

You know APSA isn't the only conference in polisci, right? In fact, there are others that are more affordable, provide better networking opportunities, & facilitate interactions among scholars w/o crossing picket lines or hosting J6 defendants. #PoliSciTwitter

When Columbine happened, I was a HS freshman VA Tech - college senior Sandy Hook - 1st year prof 10+ years in the classroom & I've never had training for an active shooter situation, but know guns are easier to access & cheaper than therapy. The US has made odd choices.

It is a mess in a lot of places. Our PR photos show huge groups of students, yet our enrollment erosion means classes are 1/2 the size of 5 years ago.

I like how our PR photos show 6 students working with a professor in a classroom, but that scenario literally doesn’t exist as we keep shrinking faculty lines

I propose 2 factor authentication for the "reply all" feature on email. Can I get a second?

APSA is protecting its 💰 - predictable. But everyone else should remember there are other conferences, often providing better experiences & feedback. 'Too big to fail' is dumb in every context.

Idk... can we get librarians some of that qualified immunity BS some other civil servants have?

If my students in the summer class spent 10% of this week's energy into any other week, they wouldn't have to work so hard. I wish I knew how to teach people not to procrastinate.

Dear overlords of state officials w/ embarrassingly thin skin: Grow up.

and (c) we reserve the right to impound part of your pay to reduce the uni's budget gaps that were created by the 1-10 foot team, the b-school faculty that can't manage a meeting, & that new nursing complex we're building instead of fixing your AC.

Remember, we do pay your nine month salary out over twelve months because you are (a) bad with money and (b) unemployable in the summer.

1 more season of the West Wing w/ Seaborn & Garner, dealing w/ the aftermath of Dobbs & the rise of white Christian nationalism.
