So Noah just helped me count to 34.. yes 34! To be fair, we counted in an every other number, call and response type manner.. I prompted him w/ a number and then he gave the next 1 or 2. However, hes never gone higher than 20 with me in that format! Wild! #AutismScenes
"Bull in a China shop" = "Noah in a pillow shop" He has found a favored sensory release activity in biting, hitting & wrasslin pillows.. he's not angry.. in fact he gets almost gleeful.. but let me tell you.. them pillows dont have a chance.. lol #AutismScenes
When I became a special needs teacher I anticipated that being a parent would enhance my teaching role and vice versa.. What i didn't expect was that I wouldn't really feel like a complete member of either community.. sort of a hybrid in a land of purebreds. #AutismScenes
Its February 20th and I finally just took our Christmas tree down. The entire time I was covered in glitter & stalked by a big boy who was stimming off of the letters on my shirt.. I couldnt think of a more fitting anecdote to represent my life.. #AutismScenes #IDScenes
1st day back to school for a teacher workday & I had to scramble back home to watch this guy cuz we are without an aide. He wanted some relatively rare cuddle time. I dunno how long we could juggle everything without help. But good help is a vapor in the mist. #AutismScenes

One of the best things about staying home with a boy that isnt feeling well is that I have a captive audience of 1 for my jokes for awhile. He's an honest broker. If he laughs I know I'm on the right track. If not, I'll get a look without the polite sugarcoating. #AutismScenes

"Beef and cheese" 1) We quote the line in Elf regularly to Noah "You smell like beef & cheese" to uproarious laughter. He says "beef and cheese" as a prompt for us to quote it.. 2) Said today spontaneously by Noah after he tried a beef soft taco for 1st time!! #AutismScenes

While at the playground today, Noah randomly counted to 3, so I picked up the count & we alternated up to 20! You can imagine that this special education math teacher is pretty proud that his son w/ID has retained the knowledge of numbers 1-20. #AlwaysAnEducator #AutismScenes
Our area has very few adaptive swing seats in local parks & playgrounds. Took Noah to our primary playground spot and sure enough a neighbor to the park now has a very loud & excitable rottweiler. Noah was too scared to get close & wouldn't swing. #SwingAndAMiss #AutismScenes
This Easter I'm thankful for the ability to talk to my son & hear him talk to me. That's it. I couldnt have said that just a few years ago. His independent (w/ new words!) & echoic language today was higher than I've ever heard. Thankful for the good days. #AutismScenes
