Pr. Wendorf helped a woman divorce her husband without any justification, then issued her a call as a DCE after she was excommunicated from her home congregation. He refused to speak to her husband. He was just re-elected as Area C VP of the Texas District.

Among the several problems with this post, the chief one is probably that this exact line of reasoning is used fairly regularly to reject Christ.

When you learn about all the rape and pedophilia in every society that had slaves and then see grown men today arguing it would be okay to bring slavery back

It's not hypocritical; it's incoherent. The feminine desire for fried ice can be charming in the right circumstances. She wants to be surprised & you get to be creative. But when it's a demand for which men are given responsibility w/o authority, it's misery for both sexes.

women want equal partnerships which includes being cared for and men taking the lead on some things. women don't typically want men to have authority over them, and they do expect them to also take responsibility. there is nothing hypocritical about this.

Hey @toddwilken remind me again, who was it that presented the Augsburg Confession before the Emperor? Why do you subscribe to this political document as part of your religion? Is it possible that Christ’s right hand knows what His left is doing? Might they even work together?

Doug Wilson’s Christian Nationalism cannot be separated from his post-millennial end times views. Fun fact: The Lutheran Confessions explicitly reject post-millennialism.

Just thought you'd like to know that he was in the pulpit yesterday like nothing had happened. His female lector also appeared to feel no shame.

What have I been telling you about the LCMS's abandonment of Christ that you still do not understand?

So apparently the practice of King of Kings has been widely known to the pastors of the LCMS as improper at best. 1) Why haven’t you initiated a dispute against them for their false confession? 2) Are you unaware that statements like these are the norm in the LCMS?

Ah yes, men, the sex famous for having unpredictable emotions and crazy mood swings that and need to be carefully handled by the more stoic, steady partner.

Managing his stress. Interpreting his moods. Holding his hand through feelings he won’t share with anyone else. All of it unpaid, unacknowledged, and often unreciprocated. Is it any wonder women are fed up?

David did not flee from Saul because he was king, but because he abused his authority to persecute God’s anointed. These Saxons did not flee their rulers because they ruled in the name of Christ, but because they abused their authority to persecute the true teachings of God.

“Luther started his own church because he wanted to avoid accountability to the Church.” You should not make arguments that you don’t believe, especially when they use the same faulty reasoning you would criticize your opponents for.

The Saxon immigrants who would help form the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod were fleeing Christian Nationalism ruled by a Christian prince.

This is all true. And yet, the sad reality is that such isolationism isn’t even necessary, because if you enter seminary without any of these “undesirable” traits, you will not acquire them while there.

The SMP program was sold to the LCMS, essentially, as shotgun ordination. A way to ordain guys who were already serving congregations that would more or less fall apart if the guy left for seminary. It was sold as a program for small rural and urban congregations that couldn’t…

Lutheranism vindicated yet again.

my most eastern opinion is that we do not put nearly enough emphasis on the importance of the incarnation as an event.

This type of “abuse” is the rule, not the exception wrt SMP. The people who think this is good obviously have no desire to change it, and the people who think it’s an abuse also think the 8th Commandment tells them to close their ears when someone admits to wrongdoing.

“But why don’t you trust SMP guys?” I may very well trust an SMP pastor that I get to know in my circuit (though there aren’t any currently), but that says nothing about the abuse of the program. My vicarage was in North Carolina. There was a church nearby that had sent…

Frankly, the LCMS should not bother worrying about the more complex arguments about monogamy until they decide they are willing to believe and live according to the very clear command that “what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

Also - I 100 percent think the LCMS is susceptible to the lies against monogamy. There are arguments being made right now about other topics that if the same logic is applied would also undermine orthodox Christian teaching regarding monogamy. We need to mind our own house.

Not the point of the OP, but why is a church that is “well known for being loose in doctrine and practice” permitted to remain in communion with the Synod?

Matt is entirely correct in his analysis. Limiting the SMP to men over 40+, true second career individuals, is a good and necessary thing to do. SMP is meant to provide pastors for congregations in a truly unique context. Those pastors are meant to stay at that church, hence the…

Children are perhaps the most excellent teachers of the first article and of the incarnation. The fact that any pastor you’ve met with >3 children stands out to you is why we’ve lost these teachings.

Catechesis with the 3yo: Me: who is Jesus Christ? 3yo: the Son of Dod Me: and what did he do? 3yo: ummm him laid in the hay. Beduz he was a little baby.

“I NEVER have to use my phone for work. I do it like everyone has for millennia: using my MacBook and iPad. You’re just a whiner.”

Este tweet ya no está disponible.

This is something that I’ve found quite puzzling for many years: Lutherans (especially LCMS) love to praise Bonhoeffer for courageously taking part in a plot assassinate Hitler. But they are very clear that under no circumstances may a Christian do any harm to an abortionist.

The presumption of innocence in the legal realm is a legitimate elaboration on “thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” - at least if you are living under Christendom. It is, however, an abuse to cite this as justification to ignore the realities of sin/crime.

Not linking to it - sorry! The presumption of innocence is a procedural device used in criminal trials to prevent a jury from prematurely judging a case before the presentation of evidence. To inflate it to a metaphysical principle in a canon law setting is polemical advocacy.

“Confessional” Lutherans used to know this paragraph by heart when Kieschnick was still president

Market demand can be influenced. Increase the price, and demand will go down. Plus, there are factors that can be included under “price” that are not strictly speaking monetary. For example: “you will go to prison if you do this” increases the “price” dramatically.

Bitter pill: mass immigration and H1B will never end as long as there is market demand for it. And there will always be market demand as long as our birthrate is at 1.6 and we’re murdering 600k American children in the womb each year. Replacement immigration is here to stay…
