Hey institutional neutrality folks: now that Trump’s military trans ban is back in effect, are you going to say anything about the fact that you’re about to be violating your own nondiscrimination policies when you host military recruiters? Is that an attack on your mission?

As Trump will soon learn, there are important differences between freezing federal funding & revoking an entity’s tax-exempt status that make the latter a much less potent weapon in the executive branch’s arsenal 1/

NYU cancelled a speech by the former head of Doctors Without Borders because she was going to mention casualties in Gaza and the impact of USAID cuts. Thank God we finally ended censorship and cancel culture on college campuses.

I'm struck by Provost Newman's phrasing: "The Regents determined that this announcement was necessary because...." Note how carefully she avoids endorsing any of their reasoning herself.

UC Regents order President Drake who passes the buck to Provost Newman to end the use of diversity statements in hiring throughout the University of California. Note that, as page 2 clarifies, "no longer required" actually means "no longer permitted."
