More on Lake Champlain "closure." This means the broad lake freezes over. Last closure was 2019. Since 2000, closure has occurred eight times between January 27 and March 8. Based on the amount of open water and the forecast for next week, a total freeze seems unlikely this year.
Lots has been said about droughts in the West due to climate change, but far less about the opposite: the East is getting wetter.

In order to afford the median home sold in Burlington in 2024, a household needs to make at least $141k annually and be able to pay a $82k down payment. While median incomes have risen in recent years, they have not risen as quickly as home prices. data.burlingtonvt.gov/pages/housing
