Been out in Manchester tonight - a place where I wasted thousands of pounds chasing losses and contributed to my downfall. Walked past this place - my old haunt - was Ladbrokes now a coffee shop 10) Take time to reflect on your past. Don’t dwell but learn from your mistakes
9) When you attend GA, who will get a phone list. Use it. When you are feeling vulnerable or close to having a bet, pick up the phone and talk to someone. Talking is key. Contact with others is crucial. You’re not alone in this. #gamblersanonymous #justfortoday #RecoveryPosse
8) Strip out things from your old routine. Don’t buy a paper, avoid walking past bookies, change radio station / tv channel when gambling adverts come on. Break the cycle. #gamblersanonymous #justfortoday #stopgambling #RecoveryPosse #addictionrecovery
Here is 7) Whilst at GA have your partner, son/daughter, mum/dad or a close friend attend GamAnon. A truly wonderful support group for those affected by their loved one’s addiction to gambling. They need support as much as you do. #gamanon #gamblersanonymous #RecoveryPosse #JFT
Number 6) Fill your time. Trying to stop will leave a big void in your life. Do something you love or start something new. Gym, football, fishing, swimming, cycling, cross stitch, photography. Invest your time elsewhere. #gambersanonymous #stopgambling #justfortoday #addiction
Advice 5) If you are an online gambler, downgrade your phone to a basic model. Install a gambling blocking app to your phone / PC / laptop. It may cost a bit but will be a damn sight less than what you throw away on gambling. #gamblersanonymous #howtostopgambling #gamblock
Number 4) Any money that you have to carry, get a receipt for everything you buy. Prove and justify every penny you’ve spent. The trust in you has gone so you need to slowly build this back up. #stayoffgambling #gamblersanonymous #justfortoday #tipstostayoffgambling
Next one (and one of the most important): 3) Get to a GA meeting This should a priority. You will be in a room of likeminded people who won’t judge you. Give it 90 days. If you commit to the group it could save your life. #gamblersanonymous #stopgambling #RecoveryPosse
