There’s a difference between helping and performing. One sees the person. The other sees a camera.
Some days I feel like I’m barely holding it together. But then I hear my babies laugh, wear their ribbon skirts, speak our language, dance in regalia gifted to them, or listen to them sing our songs. And I remember we’re doing it. We’re breaking cycles.
Today I’m proud of the quiet choices I made. Not yelling. Not drinking. Not giving up. That’s recovery too. Every small choice is a step toward the life I’m still building.
Mental health is not just self-care. It’s land, language, kinship, and rest. It’s community. It’s stories. It’s us reclaiming wellness on our own terms.
Healing doesn’t look like perfection. Some days it’s smudging. Some days it’s crying. Some days it’s not replying to that message. But it’s still healing.
