We've been talking about this concept of "fit for purpose mapping" whereby the requirements of the equipment, processing, and budget optimally fit the objective of the study. Crowdsourced bathy definitely has a place! See bit.ly/3D0bkp0. Thanks for the ref @chris_harrod
Stunning coverage of kelp at Punto Píchalo, N Chile (near Pisagua) as surveyed by @udeantofagasta, @invasalCL, @UpwellChile and @HarrodLab superstudent @Karininabe using the @BioBaseMaps system. Hard work in an extreme place, but such high resolution data!

latest @BioBaseMaps kelp survey results for our Fondecyt project for the coast south of Tocopilla, N Chile. Lots of kelp in this area that is well-managed by the local fishers. Data collection ably managed by @Karininabe and @fdocmac in my absence!

I did grab an HDI transducer. 👍 @colbygainer15 and I mapped a tiny, forgotten lake that we hope to use for a #native #nongame project. Also used Garmin LiveScope to peek at the fish.

Hard day's work yesterday with the @HarrodLab crew mapping the macroalgae/bathymetry of Juan López, Antofagasta as part of our Fondecyt project reconstructing prehistorical food webs and comparing them to contemporary conditions. Thanks to @BioBaseMaps for the great system!

All set to go at #AFS152 in beautiful Spokane WA! If you're here, stop by booth 222 and we can show you how to create aquatic habitat maps with #Lowrance or #Simrad depth finders

Due to a positive Covid diagnosis by staff due to give the BioBase Demo, we will unable to be present at Newman Lake for the Demo. We will still however have a booth staffed at the conference. Please stop by booth 222 where there's plenty of hands on material
On Saturday, WDFW and Angler’s Atlas are hosting a demonstration on Newman Lake where an app-based fishing tournament will be used to predict the fish population. C-Map Biobase will also be demonstrating their crowd sourcing bathymetric mapping platform. RSVP info below. (3/4)
